Almost a year ago, we submitted a Phase I SBIR proposal to perform additional research related to work that we have recently conducted in the field of text-mining and NLP. The SBIR program is highly competitive and has a legacy of funding some of the most high-tech as well as high-risk research ideas proposed by small businesses. For instance, SickKids (the firm that discovered the cystic fibrosis gene), Symantec (then MicroComputer) and Bell labs have all been featured as previous SBIR awardees. We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a Phase I SBIR grant in 2017! (We even opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate this happy event.)
